Augusta County

Click here for information on the Augusta County Comprehensive Plan Update

Augusta County is the second largest county in Virginia after Rockingham in agricultural revenues and first in farm acres and the size of its farms. Primarily a grazing county, Augusta is the largest cattle producer in the Commonwealth and also very strong in sheep, horses and dairy. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive meet on Afton Mountain and the county's natural heritage resources outshine all other localities in the region. Augusta holds headwaters of both the James and the Shenandoah rivers. All water in the county originates in the county.

VCC participates in the Augusta Community Partnership, a group of local citizens and organizational representatives concerned about farmland, growth and development issues. ACP meets every first Tuesday of the month at 7pm at the Augusta Government Center in Verona. All are welcomed to join in the discussions and programs.
