Botetourt County is fairly mountainous, but its main travel corridors are in the path of rapid development. Botetourt County ranked 56th in agriculture in the state and 8th in the VCC region in 1997. It has a significant forestry sector that has increased in value nearly 700% between 1986 and 2000.
